We are currently traveling in the northeast of Spain, about 200 kilometers from the French border. I would like to share a few more gems on this part of the East Coast. To start with Tossa de Mar! Perhaps the most beautiful gem on the East Coast.
Picturesque Tossa de Mar
First, I drive a nice route through the hills, after which we park at the Camper Parking in Tossa de Mar. In the summer you have to pay, but in the winter it is free. Wow, the weather is lovely, at least 20 degrees. For the second time, I meet Ita and Frans from the Netherlands, super nice! We have so much to talk about.

We take a wonderful walk along the coast. Part of this route is called “Camí de Ronda” and is stunning! I look at the ruined church, the centuries-old castle, the lighthouse, and the idyllic bay from the viewpoint. And then the view… this is pure bliss, watch the video!
Llafranc – Calella de Palafrugell
I park the camper in Llafranc. Today, the Camí de Ronda is on the schedule again. Llafranc is a coastal town in a gorgeous bay.

Via the Camí de Ronda, we walk along the coast to Calella de Palafrugell. An old fishing village where time has stood still. On a sunny Saturday, this little village attracts many tourists.
Coastal city, L’Escala
I visited L’Escala a long time ago and want to see it again. Today there is a carnival parade and a street fair. Afterwards, everyone goes out for lunch, all the terraces and restaurants are full. I go for a walk with Leo along the (now quiet) boulevard and enjoy the sea view.

In the morning, a walk along the coast again. Magical views, shaped rocks and mini private beaches. L’Escala is highly recommended!
Old city Besalú
Besalú is an old, medieval city in Catalonia, whose origins date back to the 10th century or earlier. The city is known for its historical heritage, including the famous 11th-century Pont Vell (bridge) and various medieval monasteries and churches. The town is visited by many tourists every year, so there are plenty of souvenir shops and terraces!

Port Lligat – Cadaqués
A magnificent winding route through the mountains to Port Lligat. A remote seaside hamlet where the artist Salvador Dalí lived for a long time. It lies in a beautiful bay with fishing boats, and total tranquility reigns there.

But it’s time for action, so we take a walk along the cliffs to get some fresh air. When we return, the parking lot is full of campers—haha, you’re never alone in Spain! We also see Ita and Frans again and enjoy a drink together. Leo is overjoyed to see his friends one more time!
The morning begins with a walk to Cadaqués. We walk through amazing surroundings to this lovely fishing village. Dalí lived around the corner, so he probably often came here for a cup of coffee.

It is cloudy and a storm is also forecast, so I am driving a little further north. Another nice winding road through the mountains. I come across a lot of road cyclists on this road, riding up the mountain, tough cookies!
El Port de la Selva
We stop in El Port de la Selva, there are so many beautiful villages here along the coast! We walk with a view of the bay and there are nice works of art along the route.

Llançà – Portbou – Cerbère
Llançà has an walking trail along the coast, the GR92. It is a gift to be able to walk in such an amazing scenery every day! Leo is off-leash and runs ahead of me, completely happy. We are both happy, a great way to end our Spanish adventure. Tomorrow we’ll cross the border into France.

From Llançà I am driving to Portbou. What a FANTASTIC coastal route from Spain to France! The roads are a bit narrow and not everyone stays on their own side of the road, but it is perfectly manageable.

In Cerbère by the lighthouse, I enjoy the view for the last time and look back on an amazing winter trip through Spain and Portugal. So grateful for the wonderful people we met and the amazing hikes we did!
We’re now back in The Netherlands for a while. Thanks everyone for following my blog and see you soon!
