Marokko strand kamelen

West Morocco tour

Loualidia

I have been traveling in Morocco for four weeks now and have enjoyed the interior, the Atlas Mountains and the vast Sahara. Via the west of Morocco I drive back to Tangier and take the boat to Spain.

Caves of Messalit

In a deserted area near Tata we visit the Caves of Messalit. I park along the road and Leo and I walk to the caves together. It is a beautiful landscape and you can admire stalactites in the caves.

Unbelievable there is no one here, only Leo & I and there is total silence.

Camels on the road!

I’m a huge fan of camels/dromedaries! Another video from my great desert friends.

Middle of nowhere

Via the Tadakouste Piramides I drive to Fam El Hisn, a remote village in the middle of nowhere. There is also no service, only WiFi at reception. The street dog likes Leo, they play together and he goes for a walk with us.

While walking we also see camels, just walking around so nice! Free in nature nibbling on some leaves.

Amtdi oasis

Amtdi is an oasis with a green-colored water source. Well unfortunately not a drop of water in Amtdi… just like the rest of Morocco. The country is suffering from extreme drought. We will not visit the Kasbah this time, but we enjoy a nice walk along the dry river.

Life in Morocco

Along the way I see many Moroccan villages, like in the video below. An asphalt road in the middle, surrounded by sand and houses built in the traditional style.

A few facts about Morocco:

  • Children in rural areas often ask for money or sweets, it is better not to give them.
  • When you go walking alone as a woman, without a child or husband, you will receive a lot of attention from the locals (men). Nothing happens but it can be a bit annoying.
  • You are sometimes allowed to camp freely in Morocco, but the police advise against it. You usually pay for the campsite per person and I paid an average of only €6 per night.
  • It is no problem to go to Morocco with the dog. Dogs are accepted, for example on a terrace, some Moroccans pet the dog and also have a dog themselves.
  • Tea is regularly enjoyed together at the campsite with all guests.

Drarga hike

We take a beautiful walk in Drarga near Agadir! The nature here is wonderful and we enjoy the birdsong, watch the video! We also enjoy this luxurious campsite, chilling by the pool after the hike!

Sidi Kaouki beach fun

We have now arrived at the coast, amazing! Sidi Kaouki is a surfing spot not far from Essaouira. Ali’s campsite is just outside the village and I’m having a great time there! Every day we walk endlessly on the beach, wonderful.

Bye bye Morocco

In Oualidia the fishmonger comes by on his scooter, he sells freshly caught oysters, what a treat, I love it! I drive on to Tangier via the coast at Loualidia. At the last minute my left exterior mirror is driven off, wow what a shock! Unfortunately, more camper owners have this experience, so be extra careful on narrow roads!

Earlier in 2017 I visited the big cities in Morocco with a backpack and the train. During this trip with the camper I mainly visited nature, the Rif and Atlas Mountains, the Sahara and the countryside. Bye bye beautiful Morocco!

We are going to spend the winter in Spain, will you travel with us?
